In celebration of the recent, dazzling iASO Records CD release “Bachata Roja – Acoustic Bachata from the Cabaret Era” that showcases classic Dominican Bachata stars from the ’60’s – ’80’s, we are thrilled to announce the U.S. debut concerts by a few of the enduring legends who appear on the album. These musicians, unsung heroes, charted the course of bachata’s rise to international popularity as they struggled to create one of the greatest Afro-Caribbean dance styles under decades of censorship. Rediscover the early icons that pioneered romantic, guitar-driven ballads and irresistible dance rhythms – singers Ramon Cordero, Augusto Santos, “El Chivo Sin Ley” (The Lawless Goat), guitar giant Edilio Paredes – and discover emerging bachatero star, singer-guitarist, Joan Soriano a.k.a. “El Duque” (The Duke) from today’s younger generation

Survivor of the Dictatorship Era

Puerto Plata’s debut album “Mujer de Cabaret” is currently enjoying international critical acclaim and we are delighted to announce his upcoming summer festival appearances. His performance harks back to the golden age of Dominican guitar music. A contemporary of the Cuban greats of the 1930’s and ’40’s, Puerto Plata sings classic son, bolero and merengue in a style that gives testament to a time gone but not forgotten, of serenades, carousing and revelry. Puerto Plata’s sweet, nostalgic voice is accompanied by the Dominican Republic’s finest virtuoso guitarists, Edilio Paredes (all concerts except Santa Monica)
and Frank Mendez.
